Benefits of Co–ops and Internships
- Provides practical work experience that allows you to apply theories,
procedures and techniques learned in the classroom to real world work
situations.
- Provides academic credit that often applies directly toward graduation
requirements.
- Provides contacts in your career field. This can be a good source for
potential job leads as intern and co-op students are often permanently
employed by their internship/co-op employer.
- Provides access to state-of-the-art techniques and equipment.
- Provides clarification of career goals.
- Often provides a source of income while attending the university.
Qualifications for Co–ops
- You are a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate
student.*
- You are in an eligible declared major.*
- You have at least 30 semester credit hours completed
(can include transfer credit).
- You have a 2.50 adjusted GPA.

Qualifications for Internships
- You are a junior, senior or graduate student.*
- You are in an eligible declared major.*
- You meet the GPA requirement/accumulated semester hour requirement for
your major.

- * Graduate students must have been officially accepted into
a KSU graduate degree program. Not all graduate programs will allow credit to be applied.
- * Education and Nursing majors are only eligible to
participate in the internship program and do so through their departments.
- * MBA, MACC, and MPA students are eligible to participate in both programs.
- * MAPW students are only eligible to participate in the internship program.
- * Biology majors are eligible to participate in both programs. Final co-op
approval is handled by the KSU Career Services Center. Final internship approval is
handled by the KSU Biology Department. Internship candidates should contact the KSU Biology
Department as well as the KSU Career Services Center for possible Biology internship opportunities.
- * Chemistry majors are eligible to participate in both programs. Final co-op
approval is handled by the KSU Career Services Center. Final internship approval is
handled by the KSU Chemistry Department. Internship candidates should contact the KSU Chemistry
Department as well as the KSU Career Services Center for possible Chemistry internship opportunities.
