Experiential Education
Benefits and Qualifications

  • Provides practical work experience that allows you to apply theories, procedures and techniques learned in the classroom to real world work situations.
  • Provides academic credit that often applies directly toward graduation requirements.
  • Provides contacts in your career field. This can be a good source for potential job leads as intern and co-op students are often permanently employed by their internship/co-op employer.
  • Provides access to state-of-the-art techniques and equipment.
  • Provides clarification of career goals.
  • Often provides a source of income while attending the university.
Qualifications for Co–ops
  • You are a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student.*
  • You are in an eligible declared major.*
  • You have at least 30 semester credit hours completed (can include transfer credit).
  • You have a 2.50 adjusted GPA.
Qualifications for Internships
  • You are a junior, senior or graduate student.*
  • You are in an eligible declared major.*
  • You meet the GPA requirement/accumulated semester hour requirement for your major.
  • * Graduate students must have been officially accepted into a KSU graduate degree program. Not all graduate programs will allow credit to be applied.
  • * Education and Nursing majors are only eligible to participate in the internship program and do so through their departments.
